Board Of Education

West Hartford has an elected seven-member Board of Education which is required by State Statute and Town Charter to oversee public education.

  Public Communications: Comments on topics of interest 
      from the public.  Board members do not respond to comments.  
      3 minutes per individual, 20 minutes per subject matter. 

IV.  Unfinished Business 
       A.  Proposed Calendar for the 2014-2015 School Year--Second and 
            Final Reading 
(tabled at the March 19, 2013 BOE meeting)

            Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education accept and approve 
         as a Second and Final Reading the proposed calendar for
         the 2014-2015 school year

      B.  Motion by Bruce Putterman and Terry Schmitt to Accept
           Revised Bylaws 8143 and 8145 -- Second and Final

           Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education Accept 
           as a Second and Final Reading the following bylaws
           which were revised by the Board Policy Subcommittee:

                       8143  Secretary of the Board
                       8145 Clerk

  New Business
     A.  Motion by the Board of Education to Amend February
          Vacation on the Adopted 2013-2014 School Calendar

          Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education amend
          the 2013-2014 adopted school calendar, shortening
          the February, 2014 vacation
    B.  Attendance Zone Change for Webster Hill
         Elementary School

         Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education change the
         attendance zone at Webster Hill School by redistricting the
         streets in Table A from Webster Hill to Duffy   

C.  Non-Renewal of Non-Tenured Personnel
        Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education accept the
        administration's recommendation for the non-renewal of
        non-tenured teachers' contracts and to proceed with written
        notification to the individuals involved

                Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education approve
                the Financial Statement for the period ending 
                February 28, 2013

                of March 19, 2013

               Recommendation:  THAT the Board of Education approve
               the Minutes of the regular Board meeting of March 19, 2013
